Urban Gardening Leipzig – Annalinde
Together with children, teenagers and adults, neighbours, interested laymen and passionate gardeners we are redesigning a brown field to an open garden. We reclaim urban space to operate a social and ecological agriculture, to learn together how to produce local food and how to create a place of urban living. The tasks range from sowing, planting and harvesting to the processing and the conservation of the vegetables. With all of these we aim to target the question of participatory ecological urban development. Through communal work and exchange we learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge, we revive old techniques of land management, learn about biodiversity, urban ecology, sustainable consumption and future-compliant forms of urban life. The produce is being used on-site in the café. Social, ecological and participatory agriculture in an urban surrounding fosters civil engagement and leads to an increased quality of life.
